Muffin Tin Monday- Yellow Colored Foods

JDaniel really enjoys yellow foods. This tin was filled with his favorites and disappeared quickly. The fruits disappeared first.

He had chicken divan, bananas, pineapple, corn, and cornbread.

I tried to make cornbread in a star shaped silicon pan. The bread stuck in the tins and the pan ended up with permanent brown spots. I told my husband I will have to put stickers over the brown spots when we use it for a muffin tin meal.

Muffin Tin Monday- Bananas and Breakfast for Lunch

JDaniel loves Curious George and I love breakfast! I combined those two loves to put together this meal. It consisted of pancakes with syrup, banana pudding, ham slices, banana yogurt, and mandarin oranges. Curious George would need small sized food so the pancakes, ham slices and oranges were all small in size. The foods that had bananas in them were to satisfy JDaniel and George’s love of them. The napkin will be a part of his Curious George birthday party on Friday. We took one out early just for fun!

Disclaimer: This meal was served last Tuesday. We left last Wednesday for Augusta following my father in-laws passing and we didn’t return home until yesterday.

I am so glad we had this meal before we left. JDaniel ate meals in hotels, my in-laws’ house, a church dining room, a few restaurants, and the car while we were gone. On our last night in Augusta he threw up three times and he went on a liquid and cracker diet on Sunday.

Muffin Tin Monday- Orange You Glad It's An Orange Lunch!

Today's theme for Muffin Tin Muffin is Orange. JDaniel had carrots, two muffin cups of turkey wrapped in orange cheese, gold fish, left over beets from last week doctored up to look and taste better, and corn chips. He loved this meal!

Alison over at As is suggested adding applesauce to the beets to make them sweeter. What a great idea! It went over so well. I added food coloring to make it look orange and JDaniel had no idea that he was having beets.

We also listened to Ross King’s Words That Rhyme With Orange CD. I love his music. Here is a link to the review I wrote for the CD.

Muffin Tin Monday- Red Tin Part Two

I made JDaniel a tin filled with heart shaped foods along foods that were red or pink this week. He has homemade pizza made with my sister’s homemade tomato sauce, tomatoes, ham, beets, and heart shaped bread with strawberry cream cheese.

JDaniel loved the cream cheese! He barely touched the beets even though I told him that his grandmother loves beets. The homemade pizza was his favorite. He asked for it at every meal this weekend.

Muffin Tin Monday-Valentine's Day: Red Tin Part One

There isn't a theme this week for Muffin Tin Monday. Since my blog theme is Valentine's Day this week, I went ahead and did a red themed tin (next week's theme on Muffin Tin Monday). I am just calling it " Red Tin Part One".

JDaniel had hot dogs, strawberry yogurt, red pototoes, red grapes, strawberry applesauce and a little chili with red beans. I decorated with three cookie cutters I received in a Valentine's Day exchange with Country Mouse, City Mouse.

  • The number two cut into bread and two carrots
  • Another cheese shaped fish

He hadn't had yogurt in awhile and was so excited about the fact "goyurt" was on the meu.

Muffin Tin Monday- ABC's Tin (Really Just A-F)

I created an ABC tin for JDaniel this week. He inhaled everything. He almost always inhales everything.

Here is what was in his tin: Applesauce, Bagel (cinnamon and raisin), Cheese, a Drink (milk), Extra peas (They really should be called leftover peas, but that doesn’t start with E.), and Fancy ham ( I don’t know why it is called that. It just is on the package.).

I can’t wait to see what the other Muffin Tin Mom’s came up with.

Muffin Tin Monday- JDaniel's Favorite Foods

There isn’t a theme for Muffin Tin Monday this week due to the fact the it is Muffin Tin Mom’s daughter’s birthday. When I was little, we used to get to have our favorite foods for dinner on our birthdays. I decided that I would give JDaniel a tin of his favorite food plus a new food to try this week.

He had mandarin oranges, mac and cheese, milk, pickles (This was the new thing.), meatloaf, and mixed vegetables. He loved all of it. JDaniel really loves his new tin. The Shafer Family mentioned going to Target to find muffin tins in the dollar section. I hadn’t seen any there, but stop by on my way to playgroup last week and there it was.

Muffin Tin Monday- Counting to Six

Today the Muffin Tin Monday Theme is Back to School/Learning. JDaniel had a counting tin for lunch. He had one strip of chicken, two pieces of cheese, three yellow pepper strips (He didn't like them raw. He loved them cooked.), four grape tomatoes, five orange slices, and mixed veggies with six green beans. This meal didn't fill him up. JDaniel requested two crackers and more oranges. Maybe I should have done three strips of chicken and one yellow pepper strip.

Muffin Tin Monday- Eyeballs for Lunch

This week there wasn’t a theme for Muffin Tin Monday. I went with my blog theme for the week Moving Forward While Looking Back. JDaniel had an eyeball themed lunch. He loved the crackers with bacon, the black eyed peas and the peaches with cherries. The Mexican bean dip didn’t go over well. The chili cheese pie had mixed results. (The dip and pie were left over from a Mexican meal we had for New Year’s that he had enjoyed then.) What a difference a day makes in toddler eating.

Muffin Tin Monday-Christmas

I have really enjoyed reading the postings in December by other Muffin Tin Moms that involved decorating part of your meal. I decided to create a decorate your meal muffin tin for JDaniel. He wasn’t interested in creating though. He was really interested in eating what was in his tin!

The meal was made up of flat bread Christmas trees, cheese and carrot garland strips, ornaments of sausage circles, peas and peaches.

When he had inhaled the contents of his tin, he glanced to the top of the china cabinet, and pointed to the tin of his Aunt Kate’s cookies. “Cookie please,” he said. (He should have been full. I guess he is like all of us and has room for Christmas goodies.)

Here is what her cookies looked like.

Muffin Tin Monday- Christmas Books and Stories

The Muffin Tin theme this week is a meal based on a book. I selected The Donkey’s Christmas Song by Nancy Tafuri. It is a story about a donkey that fears his song will be too loud for the Baby Jesus. He lets the doves, cows, chickens, goats, sheep, and mice all sing first. It takes a look and a smile from the baby to get him to sing. When he does sing, the baby laughs with joy.

This week’s tin contains:
•Some meat for the dove (chicken not dove meat)
•Some cheese stars for the star and goat (The cheese is not goat’s milk cheese.)
•Some milk for the cow
•An egg for the chicken
•Some Cheerios for the donkey
•Some mashed potatoes for the sheep

I looked at this picture and realized most of the food is one color. So, I gave JDaniel part of the egg and some mandarin oranges. I guess that the oranges could be the smile the baby gave the donkey!

Christmas Breakfast- Muffin Tin Monday

This week’s theme is Christmas breakfast. I decided to read JDaniel the book Cock-A-Doodle Christmas by Will Hillenbrand and base most of his breakfast on the book. Before I describe his tin, let me tell you about this great book. The main character in the book is a rooster named Harold who lives in Bethlehem. Harold is given the job of waking up the animals in the morning by Old Rooster when Old Rooster retires and moves down the road to his sister’s farm. Harold doesn’t feel up to the job. He in fact doesn’t cock-a-doodle do loud enough for several days he is on the job and all the animals are late getting their work done. One evening a young woman expecting a baby and her husband come to rest in the stable. That night Harold sees a bright star, he hears voices in the distance rejoicing in song, and shepherds come to worship the baby. Harold wonders what is going on. He hears a shepherd say that Good News is here. He hears that that is hope for a new day. He doesn’t understand. He turns to baby and sees love and understanding. Harold feels a special joy and understands that his life will never been the same again. He next day he can’t wait to share it. Harold says, “Cock-A- Doodle Doo! Good News for You!” He says it a loud as he can.

Daniel had a mixed tin. He had chocolate chip muffins that represent the sweetness of Harold’s message. He had Golden Grahams to represent the rough cloth the baby would be wrapped in. He had the boiled egg to represent the bright shining star. He had apple and butternut squash yogurt to represent the vegetables the animals would have eaten. He had the reindeer pear because I thought it would be cute. It doesn’t fit in the story in anyway.

Muffin Tin Monday- Round Foods

I decided to make a tin of round foods this week. The blog is looking at money saving and I thought I would make all JDaniel's foods round like coins. He had turkey, whole grain pita, cheese, and apples cut into circles along with peas.

Muffin Tin Monday- Thanksgiving Feast

JDaniel loved his Thanksgiving feast of whole cranberry sauce, whole wheat bagel, peas, sweet potatoes and turkey. We left a space open for dessert. He had that after his meal settled just the way his parents did. Here is a link to the turkey cookies we had.

Muffin Tin Monday-If You Take A Mouse To School

This week the blog is remembering American Education Week. I found a book about a mouse going to school called If You Take A Mouse to School by Laura Numeroff. I based JDaniel’s tin on food mentioned in the book and a few other things JDaniel and Mouse might like. The book mentions a peanut butter sandwich and cookie. JDaniel needed some healthy items in his lunch too. I decided to place some cheese and cherry tomatoes in his tin. JDaniel had never had a peanut butter sandwich before. He really wasn't into it. He was willing to try it though.

Muffin Tin Muffin- Veteran's Day Patriotic Tin

Since we are celebrating Veteran’s Day this week, I thought I would make a patriotic muffin tin. JDaniel had a blue Sippy cup of milk, white string cheese, red strawberry applesauce, a blueberry bagel, and white turkey breast cubed.
