My Book Tie-Ins of the Week:

Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss' birthday. JDaniel and I will be heading to the celebration of his birthday at Target tomorrow. I think Target stores everywhere are having a celebration. In honor of his birthday I decided we would read three Dr. Seuss books.

We started with the Lorax. It is all about saving the trees and an awareness that we have to give back.

    What did we do?

I made JDaniel a Lorax sandwich with his favorite cheese rolls. I think it came out well. JDaniel announced that he was not into cheese rolls any more. That meant I got to eat the Lorax sandwich minus his eyeballs. It turns out he still likes those foods.

Next we read The Green Pants or What Was I Scared Of? We love this story about a girl who avoids a pair of green pants with nobody inside them for days and days. When she finally meets them she finds she really likes them. What a great message about giving all people a chance.

What did we do with this book?

We played find the green pants. I took a pair of JDaniel's pants that were green and hid them around the house for him to find. I thought it would be easier to find them if they were on a hanger.

Finally we read The Tooth Book. JDaniel is big into grouping things right now. He loved that this book is all about teeth.

What did we do with this book?

JDaniel and I searched in magazines for pictures of people with teeth showing. After gathering the pictures, we put them in a roasting pan and covered them with Moon Sand.

JDaniel then used an old toothbrush to uncover everyone's teeth.

What did you do that tied in with books this week?

    10. I love the Lorax! We are going to a play tomorrow called Suessical. All the teachers in our district put on fantastic play each year as a fundraiser. They are like broadway...so good! Emily's school is doing a Dr. Suess's day on the 1st...so it never gets old for the kids.

    11. What cute ideas to do with your little guy! I remember one time we had green eggs and ham with our kiddos. Oh! Yeah, we had green milk, too. They loved this! Of course, I worried about everyone's kidneys having to process all that green food dye. lol. They are adults now so I guess all is well. Have a good weekend and thanks for visiting on Thursday!
