Acts of Kindness- Giving Others a Heart Attack

Toddler Approved is hosting a wonderful project called the 100 Acts of Kindness Project. I love the idea of JDaniel and I doing things for others between Jan. 15th and Valentine's Day.Each week she puts up a challenge for you to complete as some of your 100 Acts of Kindness.

This week's challenge was to give someone a "Heart Attack". The goal of this challenge is to surprise people you care about. Some people decorated doorways and others crafted special gifts.

What did we do?

We made desserts to take to JDaniel's grandmas. I am not a baker so each cake went to the oven with a prayer said over it. The surprise for each grandma is that I actually baked something with my cooking helper. (JDaniel)

My mom (JDaniel's Grandmere) got a chocolate cheery dump cake.

It doesn't look yummy but, I really was.

Chocolate Dump Cake

Ingredients:

1 box of double chocolate cake mix

2 can of cherry pie topping

2 sticks on butter

Directions:

1. Lightly grease the bottom of a 9 x 13 casserole dish.

2. Spread the cherries evenly on the bottom of the casserole dish.

3. Spread the dry cake mix over the cherries.

4. Cut the two sticks of butter into small pats and spread the over the cake mix.

5. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45-50 minutes.

My mother in-law (JDaniel's Nana) got red velvet cake. I didn't do anything special to make it. I just followed the directions on the box and made butter cream frosting. The cake isn't really pretty. I think I am going to cut into slices and take the slices on a platter to her house.

  2. I'm pretty sure this act of kindness will be very well received. If not, you can always bring a slice to MY house. :)

  8. I was so intrigued by the title :) I am an accidental baker myself, and I usually stick to easier to execute recipes such as cookies. Your cakes look good!

  9. The dump cakes are amazing!!! As for presenting slices of cake, buy the large cupcake paper cups and then place one piece of cake in each paper cup. Then arrange the cups on a platter. It makes it super pretty and it's harder to tell when a whole cake doesn't look picture perfect :)
