A "Roaring" New Year!

JDaniel woke up roaring Sunday morning. Literally he was roaring like a lion. He was still roaring while I made his oatmeal. It was so funny I had to laugh at the lion in the footie pajamas and blonde mop of hair sitting in the kitchen. Well, that encouraged more roaring. His roaring only stopped when his received in oatmeal bowl and sippy cup of milk. Saturday night he had noticed his lion costume hanging the closet in his room. He must have been thinking about lions all night long.

It is now Tuesday and he is still roaring. It looks like it is going to be a “Roaring" new year.

Muffin Tin Monday- Eyeballs for Lunch

This week there wasn’t a theme for Muffin Tin Monday. I went with my blog theme for the week Moving Forward While Looking Back. JDaniel had an eyeball themed lunch. He loved the crackers with bacon, the black eyed peas and the peaches with cherries. The Mexican bean dip didn’t go over well. The chili cheese pie had mixed results. (The dip and pie were left over from a Mexican meal we had for New Year’s that he had enjoyed then.) What a difference a day makes in toddler eating.

Repost:Mommyhood Tip- Using Greeting Cards to Make a Picture Walking Book

This idea was originally posted during recycling week on JDaniel4's Mom in September. I thought I would enjoy seeing it again. You may have a lot of Christmas cards piled up in your house and this is a new use for them.

Here is how you put together your greeting card picture walking book:

1.You remove the front part of a bunch of greeting cards.
2.You take a hole punch and punch a hole in one corner of each card.
3.You put a metal ring through the holes.

How do you use them to picture walk?
-You can flip through the cards and talk about what it happening on each card.
-You can look for a particular color on each card.
-You can look for a particular element on a card.(trees, animals, candles, flowers)

Older Children
-You could use them to discuss the setting of each illustration.
-You could have a child select a card and use it as a story starter.
-You could have a child select a card and make up a word problem for that card.

Friday Fill-Ins #157

1. Last night made a Mexican dinner, toasted the New Year with my husband at 10:00 p.m., and we went to bed early. (JDaniel was up by 6:00 a.m. I was glad we went to sleep early.)

2. I am looking forward to this year.

3. The funniest thing JDaniel did yesterday was play hide and seek in the cubicles when we took my husband lunch at this office.

4. 2009 is over...so where do we go from here?

5. He said,"I love you'; she said,"I love you". They both meant it!

6. JDaniel has hidden his pacifier and it's up to us to find it before naptime.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to visiting my mom, tomorrow my plans include enjoying time with my guys and Sunday, I want to go to church and blog!
