This is Your Brain in Love by Dr. Earl Henslin looks beyond just using counseling to work on your marriage. It looks at different parts of the brain that people use to interact with each other. There are five love styles identified. Each style is defined by the section of the brain dominantly used by a person. The book contains a chapter on the Scattered Lover, Over- focused Lover, Blue Mood Lover, Agitated Lover, and the Anxious Lover.
The author believes that there are sometimes chemical imbalances that can cause people to be at the far end of each of the love styles. That these imbalances can be identified with brain scans. Just counseling won’t help their marriages. He also highlights food choices and other things that people can do to help them interact better with their marriage partner. There is a quiz at the end of each love style that will help you identify what love style you have.
I think the brain is fascinating. This book really helps put science behind the ways people interact with each other. It gives very practical ideas as to how to build a healthy relationship with people with each style and how to deal with you. I find the use of brain scans to help with counseling fascinating. If you are interested in learning more about the brain and improving your relationship, you will really enjoy this book.
