Friday Favorites- Home Comforts: The Art and Science of Keeping House

Home Comforts : The Art and Science of Keeping House by Cheryl Mendelson is the most awesome book! If you don’t know a lot about homemaking or weren’t paying attention when your mom told you important tips, this is the place to look. It is an amazing reference tool for doing laundry, knowing how and when to clean, directions for homemade clean products, how to store items, and so much more. I like to flip it open just to learn something new. I turn to it when I am embarrassed to admit I don’t know something about homemaking. I read it for guidance on how to grow as a homemaker. It is thick book. Don’t be frightened by its size. The author has an easy to read style and covers everything you might need to know about housekeeping. She learned at the feet of family experts and was listening to what they shared. I am glad I have it in my home library.

Hooray, I Found Wegman's Deals for Kate!

My sister Kate loves Wegmans. I have been telling her about my coupon deals and she mentioned she was having trouble finding a site like Southern Savers that talked about Wegmans. (Have a mentioned I love SouthernSavers this week?)
I spent sometime on BeCentsAble's site today looking for Wegmans and noticed that a site called Deal-licious is now covering Wegman's Deals. If you are looking for your local store, you need to check out BeCentsAble's site too.

Splenda World of Sweet Drinks Giveaway

It’s time for a new giveaway this week. I had so much fun reading people’s entries in the Salmon Bag giveaway. I can’t wait to see what you will write this time.

The new giveaway is for a cookbook called The Splenda World of Sweet Drinks. It has amazing recipes for beverages. I made the southern iced tea recently for a gathering at my home and everyone loved it. The frozen hot chocolate recipe looks awesome! I haven’t tried it yet, but if you win this giveaway maybe you will try it and let me know. The book even has a substitution chart you can use if you want to try the recipes with sugar.

There are so many reasons to use Splenda. We started using it because, my husband likes it. I started using it recently in baking due to the fact that I had a Splenda House Party for Houseparty.com. Everything I made was awesome! We had the breakfast trifle, sweet tea, pecan candy, and a lemon chiffon pie.

This giveaway begins August 3rd and ends August 17th at 11:59 p.m.

What do you need to do to get this great book?

Deal Seeking Mom Just Posted This Awesome Resource!!!!!!!!

I copied this right from the site to make sure I have it all correct. This is so exciting.

The Deal Seeking Mom Coupon Database is a comprehensive listing of coupons from newspaper inserts and printable coupon sites such as Coupons.com, SmartSource.com and Redplum.com as well as e-coupons from CellFire and Upromise. We’ll be adding Bricks coupons and those listed on manufacturer sites as we go forward, but we didn’t want you to have to wait any longer to start using it!

A couple of the features that we’re very excited about include:

An expandable view to give you even more information about each coupon, including limitations, product categories and subcategories.

A blogging format field for bloggers that allows you to simply copy and paste the information for each coupon as you’re doing your coupon match-ups.

A comprehensive search feature that allows you to sort coupons by brand, description, source and more.

Perhaps the most exciting feature, though, are the Personal Coupon Boxes! That’s right – you can create an account to keep track of all of the coupons you currently have in your stash to make your own personal shopping and saving easier. With your Personal Coupon Box, you can:

Add your own regional or specialty coupons that aren’t in the main database.

Edit the quantity of each coupon.

Edit the expiration date on printable coupons based on the date you print them.

I’m still updating the database with the new printable coupons that came out today as well as this week’s inserts, and we have some tweaking to do as we figure out what works best for you, but we hope it will be a resource that helps you take your deal-seeking to the next level!

We welcome your comments and suggestions on any additional features that would make the database more useful to you. Feel free to email me at mandi@dealseekingmom.com!
