There was a time when I could eat JDaniel with a spoon and there was very little clean up. That time has passed and now he feeds himself everything. Yes, oatmeal, applesauce, spaghetti, sweet potatoes, and peas end up in JDaniel and on the floor. To prevent having to wash the floor everyday an item like a splat mat is ideal. It is easy to place under his highchair and cleans up quickly. It is also a great thing to take with you on play dates or visits with relatives. JDaniel can sit on it or I can place it under a chair. His food doesn’t decorate the floor or carpets of people who home you don’t care to destroy. It is also a great thing to take when he eats lunch at a park. It can be placed on the ground and keeps both his food and the ground clean. Rick Rack Queen has some fun splat mats available at the Etsy shop. Oilcloth is so practical!
You can use it inside on the kitchen table for messy crafts or baking projects with the kids or put it on the floor to catch messes from under a highchair or booster seat. You can even take it outside on the deck or grass to contain the kid's messes to one area...well, you can try anyway! Oilcloth wipes clean very easily and is not machine washable.

Mat is a single layer of oilcloth with a simple hemmed edge for durability.
